Early Reassurance: From 6 up to 14 weeks

Reassurance: From 15 weeks up to 23 weeks

We offer scans as early as 6 weeks for reassurance in the early stages of pregnancy. Whilst most pregnancies don't experience any problems, there are a small percentage that can be complicated by pain or bleeding, are ectopic or, sadly, end in miscarriage.

This scan checks for:

• Intrauterine pregnancy

• Baby’s heartbeat

• Number of babies

• Gestational age of the pregnancy

Trans-abdominal and trans-vaginal scans

As experts in pregnancy ultrasound, our sonographers are highly skilled and able to offer trans-abdominal and trans-vaginal scans. While most ultrasound scans are performed over the tummy, sometimes, in early pregnancy, trans-vaginal scanning is necessary and allows us to give immediate reassurance and exclude complications such as ectopic pregnancy. Your sonographer will discuss this with you at the time of your scan if a trans-vaginal scan is required.

After your scan, you will be given a comprehensive ultrasound report, all digital images and two additional printed images of your baby.

Appointments for our early pregnancy scans are usually readily available within 48 hours; however, in exceptional circumstances we offer a 24-hour emergency scan service.
